Police To Continuously Enforce Speed Limit On Wickham Road

WEST MELBOURNE, Florida — The West Melbourne Police Department announced today that it will be continuously enforcing the 30 mile per hour speed limit on Wickham Road in West Melbourne, Florida.
The one and one half mile stretch of roadway from US Hwy 192 to Nasa Boulevard is under construction and has been the subject of numerous complaints of excessive speed.
“Our officers are committed to the safety and security of the construction crew, as well as the motoring public at large,” Chief Richard Wiley said in a statement.  “We ask that drivers be patient and strictly adhere to the posted speed limit so as to avoid unnecessary injuries that may result from a crash.”
Penalties for speeding in a construction zone range from a fine of $159.00 and can be as much as $459.00.  Drivers who exceed the posted speed limit by 30 miles per hour or more in a construction zone face a mandatory appearance in court.

  • I don't believe it, as the cops just want more easy revenue....show us the complaints!!!!!

  • It's West Melborne, home of the notorious 2mph over the speed limit tickets. Of course they'll jump all over double fine days while they can.

  • Hmmmm, as usual, people complaining about an infringement on their "God given right" to violate traffic laws.
