80% Weather Chance Delta IV ‘GO’ For August 7 Launch

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida — The U.S. Air Force is scheduled to launch the sixth Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS-6) satellite aboard a United Launch Alliance Delta IV Medium+ rocket on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, from Space Launch Complex 37 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

The U.S. Air Force 45th Weather Squadron forecasts an 80% chance of favorable weather conditions on launch day.  The primary concern for launch day is cumulus cloud rule violations associated with coastal showers.

The WGS-6 satellite is part of a high-capacity communications system for U.S. troops in the field.

The launch window is from 8:29 p.m. EDT to 9:18 p.m. EDT.
