ShARPES, Florida — A 5-year-old boy remains in critical condition after being hit by a pickup truck in Brevard County, Florida.
Around 7:20 p.m. on Monday, a special needs child from Cocoa had gotten away from his parents in a nearby parking lot. As the parents were searching for the boy, he wandered into the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 near Indian River Drive and into the path of a 2013 Dodge pickup truck driven by 64-year-old Timm Eri.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Eri swerved to the left – but the right front of the pickup struck the child.
The boy was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando, Florida.
