BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Adopt a pet from Brevard County Animal Services today, May 1, and it will cost you just $1. May 2 it will cost you $2. And May 3 … well, you get the idea.
In addition to the adoption fee, everyone pays $10 for a current Brevard County animal license tag.
Considering regular adoption fees are $70 for cats and $80 for dogs, that’s a pretty good deal. There are kittens and puppies available, too.
The promotion is good throughout the month of May and for any animal in either of the two County shelters. The adoption fee includes a microchip, vaccines, and spay or neuter surgery.
“The sooner you come in, the lower the fee,” says Karla Torpy, Director of Animal Services & Enforcement. “Our goal is to empty kennels and cages. We hope all the animals that are lost go home, and all of the animals that are homeless find new families.”
To see dogs or cats available for adoption, visit the Brevard County Animal Care Centers at 5100 W. Eau Gallie Blvd. in Melbourne or 2605 Flake Road in Titusville or go to the shelter website at www.brevardcounty.us/AnimalServices.
The Animal Care Center hours are 12 pm to 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The shelters are closed on Wednesday.

Rescued my dogs from a shelter, best thing I ever did. I went to get one, came home with two. They're sisters, so I couldn't separate them. They've never had a health issues, and have always been VERY well behaved. Friends of mine have paid thousands for pure bread dogs that are nothing but money pits because of poor health. They really changed my life for the better. RESCUE PETS, PEOPLE!
Purebred....my brain hasn't started working yet.
